About the Honda Pons NSR500 '01

Tamiya introduces a 1/12 scale model of the bike that reclaimed the 2001 Road Race World Grand Prix 500cc Class Championship Title. At this event, 4 teams entered a total of 6 NSR500 '01 machines employing powerful 2 cycle V4 engines. 125cc and 250cc Class World Championship Title holder Loris Capirossi and veteran rider Alex Barros were on the Pons Honda team line-up. Capirossi turned heads with a miraculously fast lap time, earning the pole-position from the opening race, the Japan GP. Under the heavy rain of the 5th race, the Italian GP, these two talented NSR500 riders pulled off a brilliant one-two finish, making themselves favorites for the season championship.

About the Model

1/12 scale, total length 168mm, total width 54mm, total height 94mm Air box and other details on the engine have been precisely molded as one piece. The detailed completed power train is attached to the frame with metal screws. The upper and under cowling have been molded as one piece and feature subtle curves. These pieces can be assembled with the seat cowling and attached or detached via metal screws. The rear suspension uses metal coil springs. Decals have been produced by a well-reputed Italian decal manufacturer. Both Capirossi and Barros decals are included.
